Episode 166: Recharging Your Energy: Self Care Strategy Without Sacrificing Your Money Or Your Business

Introduction to Self Care and Fun

Recently, I was asked to be on a colleague’s friend’s podcast talking about self-care and what I do for self-care. And the answer that I gave for her podcast was something that I think we need to talk about. So when it comes to self-care and fun, what do you need to make sure that you know, especially when it comes to running your business and managing your money? So, here we go.

Welcome to Your Money, Your Life Podcast

This is the Your Money, Your Life podcast. I’m your host, Aimee Cerka, a money confidence coach for female entrepreneurs on the path to six figures. After over ten years in the personal finance industry and multiple personal, financial, and medical crises, I was fed up with the lies that are being shouted from the rooftops by the gurus and the media. So now I help you simplify, solidify, and scale your money. By blending tactical money strategies with mindset work, you can create unstoppable finances. Together, you’ll finally figure out the money thing, so you can make more money in less time without living off beans and rice or sacrificing your lifestyle. Episodes here on the podcast are short and sweet. Being married, having four kids at home, homeschooling, being a CEO, and running the household- I’m kind of busy, and I know you are, too. So let’s keep it simple and get to the point.

What Do I Do for Self Care and Fun?

Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here. Welcome back to the Your Money, Your Life podcast. I’m your host, Aimee Cerka. We are talking today about self-care and fun.

Self Care Activities That Work for Me

I had a friend and colleague ask me recently to record something for her podcast, talking about what I do for fun and self-care. And when I was thinking about my answer and what I wanted to say, there was an overall theme that came up, and that’s really what we need to talk about today. So, make sure you stick around because that’s the portion that we need to know before we start with some surface-level things. But we need to know this portion for it to really make the impact that it needs to.

Finding Joy in Gardening and Taking Baths

What the heck do I do for self-care and fun? I feel like this answer will change, and it will change for you, too, because what is filling your cup isn’t always necessarily gonna be the same thing. Whether it’s leaning into rest more or enjoying my garden, which is a hobby I love. Gardening can be very stressful sometimes or frustrating. Gardening in Texas is not for the weak, with so many pests.

Simple Pleasures and Fun Activities

But the garden is a source of joy and self-care. Really, just being outside is one of my main things. I also enjoy taking a bath. I know, stereotypical self-care, right? But those things do refill me.

Managing Stress During Busy Times

But the part then, of course, is the fun portion of that. I love movies, pretty laid back and simple. But those things do recharge me, and I enjoy them. The thing that makes all of that really possible is the shift that we made, that I made behind it. That’s really what I wanted to make sure that we talked about today.

Balance Fun and Responsibility

Because as we are going through the summer, I’ve heard from several people that it’s been so busy. There’s a lot going on. I know I’ve had a lot going on personally that we’re managing and handling. Life is hectic and crazy like it always is. Some have said it’s a good thing, with so much fun going on this summer.

Coping with Stress and Pressure

But at the same time, there are shifts and changes that make us feel stressed and pressured. How do you still have time to take care of yourself? We’ve all heard you can’t pour from an empty cup, so how do you have time for self-care and fun when life is stressful? This is the key: we can’t let the “shoulds” determine what we actually do. We’ve got to stop feeling guilty about the things we feel like we should do.

Focus on What Really Matters

Whether it’s you feel like you should be spending more time with your kids or working more in your business, focus on what you want to do. Yes, of course, there are things we need to do. But we’re talking about the guilt that comes up from the things we feel like we should be doing. When you feel that guilt, take a step back. Is it something you actually need to do?

Personal Examples of Self Care

For instance, attending that networking call even though it’s not something that works for you. Personal experience here; that’s one I have to keep reminding myself, like, hey, no, this does not work for me. What do you do for self-care and fun? I want to hear on Instagram. We are always looking for more fun stuff to do and exciting things.

Removing Guilt and Living in the Moment

We’re removing the guilt, the shame, the shoulds, all of those things that pop up. At least take a step back and reflect, like, is this something that you actually need to do? Maybe it’s not a should. Maybe it’s a need. What does that look like?

Being Present and Intentional

Being present wherever you’re at is important. Whether you’re working on your business, spending time with the kids, or resting and relaxing. Being present there instead of letting everything else affect us. It’s a skill, not overnight, but something we can work on every single day. So, that’s it for now.

Share Your Self Care Ideas

I do want to hear what you do for self-care and fun. Send me a message on Instagram. Next week, we’re going to start a quick series as everybody gets ready to jump back into the school year. We’re going to do some quick hit action steps, simple things that you can do to move forward within your finances, business, and life. That’s it for now.

Consistent Cash Flow with Cash Flow Calculator

Are you tired of not seeing consistent cash flow? What if you could stop wasting countless hours working on the wrong things? All without jumping from strategy to strategy, just trying to find one that works, and without requiring a week of reflection or a time audit because you don’t have time. If that’s you, my cash flow calculator might be perfect for you. It only takes 90 seconds, and you won’t need to know any of your numbers to actually do this. There’s also a special way you can get me to give you feedback on your results. Simply go to aimeecerka.com/cashflow to access it. And of course, that link is hanging out in the show notes.
