Breaking the Patterns of Financial Sabotage
Welcome back to your money, your life podcast. I’m your host, Aimee Cerka. Today, we’re gonna conclude our mini series on the hidden ways that we sabotage our finances and how to finally break three.
Over the last several episodes, we’ve explored the real reasons that money might feel harder than it should, and it wasn’t just about how much you make or how well you budget. We looked at the silent mindset patterns, tiny habits straining your financial power, and the tactical mistakes that sneak in behind the scenes.
My goal is simple, to help you see these patterns without judgment, reclaim your power, and take small, meaningful steps towards unstoppable finances. So whether you’re feeling stuck, frustrated, or just ready to feel more confident with your money, you are exactly where you need to be.
You’re Not Broken – Sabotage Happens
Alright. Let’s recap. You’re not broken. There’s nothing wrong with you. Sabotage happens. Right? Like, we self we self sabotage ourself. That’s the internal self sabotage. Right? And then there’s also external factors that sabotage us as well.
We’ve talked about three core things, like, the integration here. We talked about the mindset. Right? And we have to be able to see yourself as powerful with money as you truly want to be and not hold yourself back with our limiting beliefs and the way that we think about ourselves.
Establishing Habits and Foundational Strategy
We talked about our habits. Right? And how those small, consistent habits really help to overcome some of those mindset limitations that are showing up, some of the emotional, energetic regulation that we need to have in place as well. Those small, consistent tweaks, those small, consistent habits, how it makes a big difference over long term.
And then last week, we talked about strategy and how when we build the support systems with a budget, with a cash flow plan, with your bookkeeping, not trying to DIY every little piece all the time, but truly having a foundational strategy kinda feels like you’re you’re not trying to put Band Aids on things. Right?
Okay. Like, a leak shows up and you’re just like, okay. Band Aid. Band Aid. I’ve got this. I can cover it with the Band Aid. I can do this. I can do that. We’ve got a true strategy, a firm foundation. Well, that’s what we talked about at least last week.
Progress Over Perfection in Personal Finance
Okay? And there’s a lot there. Right? Like, even though I just ran through those really simple, rattled them off, not a big deal. There is a lot there. There’s a lot to work on. There’s a lot to feel. There can feel like there’s a big gap.
I mean, I’ve been doing this for thirteen years, and there’s still work to be done. And I don’t think we ever achieve. There’s no, like, sitting on top of the mountain. Like, hey. We made it. I never have to work on my finances again.
Making Growth a Positive Experience
There’s always work to be done here, and that doesn’t have to be a debilitating thing. Yes. There’s work to be done here. But what if it was fun? What if it was light? What if you weren’t beating yourself up over the fact that you still had work to do?
You don’t have to be perfect to make progress. You know how much progress I’ve made in the last thirteen years? You know what I’m probably gonna be saying in another ten years? It’s just going to continue to compound.
The thing is, we have to work towards it. We have to work towards that progress. We have to look for it, and we have to own our part instead of putting it off on everybody else.
Taking Ownership and Action in Your Finances
Oh, it’s the economy. Oh, it’s the president. Oh, I’m just not making enough. That’s just the way it is. I’ve done that. It’s my spouse, and I know that might be triggering for some people.
But where can you show ownership? Let’s start with you.
Oh, my parents. I had this core wound from something that happened in my childhood. We all do. What are you gonna do about it? Where are you taking ownership and taking charge of what you can control? Where can you make progress?
Commit to One Shift for Financial Change
So what’s one shift from the series that you’re gonna work on commit to working on this week? I want you to send me a message on Instagram. Let me know. What are you going to work on? Because if we don’t take action, this is just something that we put on the shelf and never think about again.
That could be it. That should have been within this series as well.
Alright. We’ll do a bonus real quick. Another way that we sabotage our finances, we jump from program to program to program to program. If you are so busy listening to podcasts and YouTube coaching, one Zoom call after the next, go go go go go.
Are you actually doing anything, or are you wearing the badge that says I’m busy?
You’re doing all the things. Right? But are you really? Are you actually implementing? Are you doing the things that you need to within your business? Are you actually working in your business, not on your business? I think I might have said that backwards.
Avoiding Busy Work and Focusing on Implementation
Doing the things that actually matter to make progress, or are we doing busy work? So we can see, like, hey. I’m doing it. I sat here and highlighted all my expenses. Was that really the thing you needed to be doing? Redid your website. Was that really the needle mover, or were you avoiding sending that sales email or having that sales conversation?
Do you attend that live Zoom call so you didn’t have to write the email? What is one small shift? What’s your action step for today? One small shift from this series, last three episodes and today. Because I added that bonus in there for you.
What are you committing to working on this week? And it’s gonna take longer than a week probably for it to stick. But if you start with now, it’s not this overwhelming thing that we put this big massive thing on our to do list.
Small Steps Translate to Big Results
Like, hey. Start a podcast. That’s a big step. Break it down. What’s the first step? And then do that. Because when we look at that’s another avoidance technique that we use.
It’s a big project. You can kind of avoid it because, oh, I don’t have time to do that. I don’t have time to revamp my whole website. I don’t have the time to write a sales page right now.
Could you write one section? What’s the first step on the podcast? Maybe it’s some market research. Maybe it’s just hitting record and talking. If you podcast, you gotta get good at talking to yourself unless you have a lot of guests on.
You have only guests, then I guess you’re not really talking to yourself. But what’s that one thing that you need to commit to and work on?
Next Steps: Programs and Free Resources
Alright. When you’re ready to take what we’ve been talking about even deeper, I want to invite you into two programs. The first is gonna be execution lab. That’s that monthly space to stay grounded and keep your momentum going for just $9 a month.
But if you’re ready for real transformation, the unstoppable experience is my high touch twelve month group mentorship program designed to help you fully embody your financial power. You’ve got all the strategy. You’ve got all the mindset work. We’ve got the emotional regulation in there. You’ve got twelve months access to execution lab. It’s all inside the unstoppable experience.
And if you’re not ready for any of those, you’ve got the podcast here. We’ll also put a link to the money mindset playbook in the show notes as well. That’s a free resource. Gives you a no brainer start. Right?
Your mindset here, there are so many things that we’ve talked about within your mindset within the series, and how to work on your mindset in an emotionally aligned way. And that’s what the money mindset playbook does. It’s got a guide included. It has a private podcast series. So no matter where you’re at, there’s a space for you to create lasting change.
All the links that I talked about are in the show notes, and we’ll see you in the next episode. Bye for now.
