Remember To Count Your Blessings
There’s a podcast that I was being interviewed on this morning. And we were talking about, you know, like, what’s one thing that you can do to work on your mindset and you know, we ended up that we went through probably two or three things. And they were all really important, but there was one in particular that I feel like we need to talk about today. So here we go.
This is the Your Money Your Life podcast. I’m your host, Aimee Cerka, a money confidence coach for female entrepreneurs on the path to six figures. After over 10 years in the personal finance industry and multiple personal financial and medical crisis.
I was fed up with the lies that are being shouted from the rooftops by the Gurus and the media said I help you simplify, solidify and scale your money. By blending tactile money strategies with mindset work, you can create unstoppable finances. Together, you’ll finally figure out the money thing so you can make more money in less time without living off of beans and rice, or sacrificing your lifestyle.
Episodes here on the podcast are short and sweet. Being married, having four kids at home, homeschooling being the CEO running the household, I’m kind of busy. And I know you are too. So let’s keep it simple and get to the point. Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.
Welcome back to the Your Money Your Life podcast. I’m your host, Aimee Cerka. We are going to talk today, it’s like money mindset. When we get tactical, there’s two things that I always want people to start with.
And you know, it was just remote, okay, was not going to talk about the first one. But it’s kind of simple. But so many things that we talk about, simple to-do simple not to-do.
Start with the Daily Money Minute
The first thing that I always tell you to start with is your daily Money Minute, the daily Money Minute. If you remember, if you’ve been with us for a while, you know this, this is where you log into your bank account every single day, check the belts. I don’t care what it says doesn’t matter can be $10,000. It can be zero; it can be anywhere in between, it does not matter.
Just logging into the bank account, looking at the balance immediately after that, I want you to go look at the thing that you’re working towards, what is the next thing that you want to purchase?
Do you want to get a new vehicle? Do you want to take your family on vacation? Do you want to buy a new house, whatever it might be that you’re working towards that next step for you.
Building Awareness: Daily Money Minute
Look at that. Because you’re tying the association of the bank account balance in with what you’re working towards. There will be resistance at first when you’re first starting this. And this is always the first thing that I recommend people to do. Because it’s just starting to help you become aware.
And we have to be able to look at the bank account balance without creating stories and judgment, any of those things about what that balance actually means. Because it doesn’t mean anything. It’s just the fact right. It’s only the stories that we create. That means something.
Reflecting on Progress: Celebration List
Okay, so anyways, back to the podcast that I was being interviewed on this morning. The second thing that came up that I shared, like your second strategy that you should do, like when you’re working on your mindset. And that’s your celebration list, in that there has been a lot of big changes going on in my personal life. And it’s given me the perspective to look back on, you know, other hard times because we all have them, right. We all have things that come up.
This is why we create unstoppable finances, because it’s not about creating life without struggle. It’s what we do, in the midst of guilt and struggle. When those moments come was actually we guess we need to do this every day.
But when those moments come, especially when you’re struggling, and it feels like you failed or nothing’s going to work out, or all seems lost, whatever it might be that you’re feeling there in the midst of struggle. I want you to look back on how far you’ve come. Because you’ve come a long way, often weedy this count discredit how far we’ve come over time, because we’re always working for more, we’re always looking for that next level, right?
And yes, there is value in that, that we should be always striving to improve, but not at the cost of not appreciating where we’re at. So I titled this remember to count your blessings, because it’s important. So I’ve going through like a decluttering organizing thing in the house.
Just you know, that’s one of the winglet coping mechanisms, whatever it might be. One of the mindset things that I’ve done with everything that I’m dealing with here, but I came across this old big list that I had made. Do you know one of those New Year’s resolutions that you write down like 100 things that you’re working towards.
And this has been at least 10 years ago, that I put together this list, and I still had it, pulled it out, found it, and was looking through it. And in the moment, there was probably a little bit more of the I’m not as far as long as I want to be. That was showing up than I would like to admit, because, you know, we all have those thoughts. And there’s nothing wrong with that, again, it’s about what we do when they come up.
So I was already kind of in that space, like, I should be farther ahead, we should be doing these things this should work. That wasn’t in like the what’s wrong with me state, but you know, those first thoughts that happen when you’re getting there. But on that goal list, I was looking at the things that were on there, because at the time, I was still a single mom and things were really tight.
And being able to buy a new pillow was on that list. And you know, like the socks that don’t have holes in them. And some things that, you know, when we got out of that space, we took for granted.
Count Your Blessings: Finding Perspective
Like those things like you look at how far you’ve come the progress that you’ve made, the things that you’ve done, and appreciate it, and counting those blessings. So the action mindset action step that I want to make sure that I left you with today that we talked about was your celebration list. Now your celebration list is part of an overall journaling activity that like I’m hoping that we do every day.
We need to be doing it every day. But your celebration list at the end of the day, I want you to write down five things that you accomplished doesn’t matter, personal business work, job health, and matter, at least five things that you accomplish that day. Sometimes, if it’s a tough day, like you gotta shower, you got to wash your hair, like mom life, it can be real, right?
Appreciating the Journey: Count Your Blessings
But what are the things that you’ve accomplished? What can you appreciate? What can you like that you can give yourself credit for the gratitude list we do in the morning, the celebration list we do in the evening. But appreciating and counting your blessings.
There’s a new song that’s out there, it’s called count your blessings. And I think of this exercise, every time that we listen to the song, it comes on the radio, because we’re talking about appreciating your blessings in the midst of struggle. And because you know, they’re really more numerous than we can ever count and taking appreciation or having appreciation for those little things, it’s going to make such a big difference.
And you’re going to see so many breakthroughs, when you can appreciate the little things that you’re doing. Every single day, the little things that you have, more is going to come to you because you’re an energetic match for what you’re looking for. We do the work, we expect that it’s going to work out but we’re not pushing energy.
There’s a time and place for that. But there’s also a space to remember and to appreciate. And that’s what I want to leave you with today. Send me a message on Instagram. Let me know if this was helpful. And we’ll see you next time. Bye for now.
