Can money actually create happiness? Yes and no.
It depends on what you do with it, you can use money to create happiness.
Inside this episode, we’re talking about three ways that I do this on an everyday basis that makes all the difference for my clients and myself personally too.
This is the Your Money Your Life podcast, where ambitious women come together to have clarity, prosperity, and confidence with their money without sacrificing precious time and well deserve fun. So let’s do this!
Welcome to the Your Money, Your life podcast. I’m your host, Aimee Cerka.
After my husband and I faced three major financial roadblocks in the last six years, I felt like I wasn’t doing all that I could and I had let my family down. It always felt like life was a struggle like I had to work harder than everyone else. It just came easy to them, and I didn’t feel worthy of success.
Until a coach helped me see the successes in our experiences instead of our failures. This allowed me to create and implement systems to grow our net worth by 200,000+ while spending time with my loved ones and on my priorities. Now I help motivated women create the happiness, family life, financial security, and long-term wealth they deserve.
If you’re ready to eliminate stress, struggle, frustration, and guilt within your finances, you’re in the right place. Welcome, I’m so glad you’re here!
Welcome back, we’re talking today about three ways to create more happiness with your money.
So the first one, stop limiting all your spending, you know, impulse spending is not all bad. We’ve talked about this time and time again. But in case you haven’t heard, you need to have a specific fund within your budget called your Play account for you to impulse spend.
Yes, there are correct ways to impulse spend.
And I will make sure to link in the show notes to one of the episodes where we talk about like how to tell like which impulse spending you should be doing, because we have talked about this, but it’s not all bad. Stop beating yourself up. Stop beating yourself up no guilt, no shame, no judgment. You get to spend money. And in fact, you need to spend money. So stop limiting all but just don’t do it.
The second thing is, or the second way that you can create more happiness with your money is actually giving money away.
Yes, creating a positive relationship with money is very important. And when you give money, you do that. Now, there might be some struggle in the beginning, when you start doing this. If this is not something that you’re doing actively right now, especially if things are tight, there can be resistance to giving money away. But it’s something that you need to do.
There’s a concept called wealth Wednesday that the Higdon group started ran Jessica Higden. You’ve not heard of that. Basically, everyone say they do a random act of kindness for a stranger involving a financial exchange.
So what you do is you pay it forward, you give money to somebody in a way that they cannot repay you. This can be like, you know, paying for somebody behind you. In the tollbooth, this can be like, tipping extra on your bill, if you’re going out to eat, this can be putting some money in a box of diapers at the store, reverse shoplifting, something like that, that we’re giving money.
Because giving money is more scalable than just giving your time and it is definitely admirable to be giving with your time and to be able to donate it and do those things. But you can create a bigger impact when you give money and you feel good about it. And there’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, I’d encourage you to share it that’s probably make that your challenge today.
There’s nothing wrong again, no guilt, no shame, no judgment, with sharing that you were giving money and that you feel good about it because it’s not about bragging. It’s about encouraging others to do the same. To give back.
Can you imagine like the changes that can be created in the world? If we are all more willing to give. We all have a healthier, positive relationship with their money with your money.
In your giving to others, you’re going to see a difference.
And the third way that you can create happiness with your money is with gratitude.
Be grateful when you pay your bills, be grateful for spending that money, be grateful for what you have increases our ability to receive more. But we can’t necessarily see that until we get out of the picture. Because you might be saying, like, you don’t get it, Aimee, this is this case I’m in. There are always things to be grateful for.
I encourage I personally do this, and I encourage my clients to do it, you should do the same handwriting 10 things that you’re grateful for each and every day. It can be something simple.
You have your eyesight, you have strength in your arms to hug those that you love, you have electricity, you’re able to pay that electric bill, you’re able to pay your car insurance, you’re able to pay for your car payment, you’re able to put gas in the car, that’s a big one right now, right? We’ve seen gas prices.
You being grateful for what you’ve have, and being grateful when you’re paying your bills, yes, some of them suck. I get that. Like, trust me, I get that. But being grateful for being able to do those things and do it, you increase the ability to what you have.
So when you do those three things, you’re going to increase and create more happiness with your money because it is a powerful tool when you use it that way. So we’re not limiting all of our spending, you’re going to start you’re going to be spending.
So you’ll create more happiness that way. Because you’re going to spend on ways that rejuvenate yourself that feel good. You’re creating that positive relationship with money, even with your spending. And then we’re going to do it again, we’re going to take it to the next level with our giving, you’re willing to give money you’re going to help others not just with your time, but with your money as well.
It doesn’t have to be a big amount.
And the third thing is we’re craving that gratitude. And we’re grateful for what we do have and what we’re able to do. Because I mean, yes, it’s something that we should do. But when you do that, you increase your ability to receive more. Because we are thankful we are taking care of and we’re giving back to others with what we have.
Now, those are the long term principles that you need for true financial progress.
So your challenge today is to go give money in some way, some forms can be $1 can be $2, $5, $10, $20, whatever you want to do.
And then send me a message or post it in your stories and tag me at @aimeecerka. I can’t wait to see what you do, and the impact that you create from what you’re able to do.
