Do You Love It?
Women are often the culprits of this. However, men are just as guilty in spending just typically in different ways. So, men don’t tune out you need to take what’s relevant and apply it. ????
How many times have you been in a clothing store trying something on it – you purchase it – then you never wear it?
A year or two later it will end up in the garage sale or the Goodwill pile. If you get anything back you’ll get pennies on the dollar for what you paid.
This is just another hole that is draining away your assets. Your hard work. There are plenty of things that you want and love that would be a better recipient of your money isn’t there?
In that dressing room or store floor moment how do you know if this top/outfit is going to be one you wear all the time or that you’ll throw out with tags on it in a couple years?
Well something my Mom taught me was if you don’t absolutely love it in the dressing room don’t buy it.
Think about your closet – your favorite tops. Can you remember trying them on in the dressing room? Did you absolutely love them? I’m betting you did.
It’s just a simple concept but it’s going to take discipline to be able to tell yourself no – if you know you don’t just love it.
Practice telling yourself that you are saying no to good so you can yes to great! Because you don’t want to blow all your clothes budget on mediocre clothes!
Bonus Tip – something that I do if I really can’t decide if I love an item. I’ll purchase the clothing item and give myself 7 days to decide if I love it. The key here though is that if you don’t really love it you have to be disciplined enough to return it back to the store.
YOUR ACTION STEP FOR TODAY – Think about 1 item that you’ve bought that you knew that you loved in the store, remember how that felt so you can be prepared next time you are shopping. Then I would love for you to connect with me on social media. I want to hear what you are working on and if this has helped you.
